Next Business Meeting scheduled for Tuesday 1/31/2012

both at City Council Chambers in the City Municipal Building, 215 Main St. at 7 pm.

A key item for these meetings will be to approve a call for a biennial Mass Meeting where a new committee, chairman, and delegates to the congressional and state conventions will be elected.

In Bedford County, 7 of the 8 people nominated or endorsed by the Bedford Republican Committee were elected as follows.

Becky Jones, Treasurer
Bill Thomasson, Supervisor, District 1
Steve Arrington, Supervisor, District 5
Tammy Parker, Supervisor, District 7
Kelly H. Harmony, School Board, District 6
Kevin Willis, School Board, District 7

In the state of Virginia, the Republicans took control of the Virginia Senate, thus now controlling the Executive Branch, the Senate and the House of Delegates.

The significance of the Republican victory is discussed by the following article.  This article uses the name Obama, but I would rather hope the thing that was rejected was the philosophy of the Democratic Party where Obama is the chief representative.

It is now the responsibility of the Bedford Republican Committee to hold these State and Local people accountable to the Republican Party Creed.

Also, it is now the responsibility of the Bedford Republican Committee to find and elect Federal candidates that represent the Republican Party Creed.
